Before my first trip to Lisbon, Portugal I got in touch with José Lencastre of the label Phonogram Unit and was invited to play at the last gig of the year. Bringing two instruments, an OpenTheremin, Make Noise 0-Coast and SOMA PIPE maxed out the carry-on luggage, so there was no room for any recording gear.
The gig was a lot of fun for all four us us, as well as the audience, so I was very happy that José had recorded it on his iPhone, lying on top of the grand piano in a corner of the room. Definitely not optimal circumstances, but we were so happy with the music that I spent a while tweaking it. We hope you enjoy the result.
So, without further ado, delve into the energy at the first meeting of José Lencastre - saxophone, Andrew Levine - electronics, Hernâni Faustino - double bass and Vasco Furtado, drums and percussion. Recorded at Cossoul / Sociedade de Instrução Guilherme Cossoul. I will be back for for for sure!
